The Vancouver International Wine Festival is Canada’s premier wine show and widely considered to be the best wine event in North America. The wine world’s winemakers and proprietors, who annually travel to Vancouver from some 15 countries to represent up to 180 international and domestic wineries, praise it as one of the best wine shows anywhere. And for the past four consecutive years, VanWineFest has been chosen the “#1 Food, Wine & Hospitality Event in Canada” by New York’s BizBash. In 2018, the festival celebrates its 40th year and, with 25,000 admissions annually, that makes it one of the oldest and biggest wine events on the planet.

Festivalgoers are on average 38 years old (26.5 percent of attendees are under 35; 47.3 percent are between 35 and 44). They are big earners (59% earn between $100,000 and $200,000+). And they have high disposable income (they spend an average of $580 per month on wining and dining and entertainment). The gender split is men 46 percent; women 54 percent.

You can reach the affluent urban professionals who attend the Vancouver International Wine Festival through a customized sponsorship that helps you maximize your brand engagement. We offer experiential marketing, premium corporate entertainment (these are hard-to-get tickets, as 98% of tickets sell out!) and extensive brand recognition. There are +/- 55 events annually, and about 10 of those are part of the concomitant three-day Trade Days Conference (February 28-March 2) for wine and food professionals.

The festival has been pairing wine and the performing arts since 1979 when it was created as a fundraiser for the Vancouver Playhouse Theatre Company, continuing as such to 2012 when, sadly, the Playhouse Theatre Company closed. But theatre is in our DNA and, since 2013, Vancouver’s Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival has been our charitable beneficiary. Since inception, VanWineFest has raised $9 million for the performing arts, including $280,000 for Bard on the Beach at the 2017 Bacchanalia Gala Dinner + Auction.

We like to start every conversation with, “If you could have anything you wanted as a sponsor, what would it be?” What are your sponsorship objectives, in other words? We’d love to tailor some ideas for your consideration.

Other Ways to Get Involved

Exhibitors

A 10’ x 10’ display in the Tasting Room is the perfect place to showcase your product to 13,000 well-heeled festivalgoers. The Tasting Room is the heart of the festival. It is home to six tastings over three days (March 1-3) – four International Festival Tastings for consumers and two Trade Tastings for wine and fine-dining restaurant professionals. To purchase a display space for $4,500, please review the Exhibitor Information PDF and/or contact operations director Trish Metcalfe.

Restaurants

Showcase your restaurant at Vintners Brunch. Fine-dining restaurants are invited to participate in the festival’s signature brunch for 500 foodies. See the Vintners Brunch PDF for details.

Interested in hosting a winery dinner? Many of Vancouver’s premier fine-dining establishments host dinners that showcase festival wineries; the dinner concepts are proposed by the winery’s register BC agent. To enquire about hosting a 2018 winery dinner at your restaurant, please speak with your wine agency contacts or email Trish Metcalfe, VIWF’s Operations Director. Winery dinner proposals are accepted from June 29-July 31.
